Early risers were met by this as they woke on February 17th.

Supermoon over HCM’s historic harbour

This evening the moon reached its closest point to the Earth for almost two decades (although the 0.3% difference would be hard to see!). A clear, still and cool evening meant that conditions were good for photographing from the moornings. (other links: guardian / wikipedia /astronomy / sky at night)

(NB: there was no substantial impact on the tides)
